Each year the Christmas decorations at Waddesdon have a different theme. For 2011 we are continuing our tour of the five European countries where the founding sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild went to find their fortune and set up branches of the Rothschild bank. This year Italy is the theme. The beautiful decorations throughout the East Wing will reflect the glamour of Italy - the culture, art, fashion, food and fun.
The Christmas season at Waddesdon begins on Wednesday 2nd November with the shops festively decorated and full of inspiring gift ideas from inexpensive stocking fillers to stunning individual pieces. The East Wing re-opens for Christmas on Wednesday 16th November – 2nd January 2012.
As usual we are offering a delicious special Christmas lunch menu in the Manor Restaurant 2 courses for £17.50 or 3 courses for £21.00..
The popular Christmas Gift Fair will open from Thursday 2nd November – Sunday 6th November. It offers a great opportunity to find unusual gifts and to get ahead with Christmas shopping. Also the Manor Shop has exclusive ranges created just for Waddesdon making unique gifts for friends and family as well as Rothschild wines, speciality foods, fabulous jewellery, bags, gardening gifts and much more.
At the Stables Shop’s magical twinkling fairy lights will welcome you into a nostalgic world of beautiful toys and games for children, old fashioned sweets, chocolate and our very own home made fudge (£2 for 100g and gift packs available).
At the Waddesdon Plant Centre, situated in the old kitchen garden, group members get 10% off full priced items purchased on the day of their visit. At this time you will find wreaths, decorations and Christmas arrangements. There will be imaginative gifts for all gardeners, fair weather and fanatical: vintage tools and watering cans, a selection of the best books on plants and gardens and much more. Access for coach parties can be arranged.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
Book your group into the East Wing, Bachelors’ Wing and Gardens between 16th and 30th November and take advantage of our Early Bird rate. £11.00 instead of £12.00 per adult, valid if you book before Thursday 30th June.
Special areas have been allocated for coach parking and passengers can be dropped off at, and collected from, the front of the House or the Stables. A refreshment voucher will be issued to all coach drivers transporting pre-booked groups.
